KARL D. SCHEFFT practices in all areas of Family Law, including Divorce, Annulment, Legal Separation and Paternity, as well as Post- Judgment enforcement and modification matters and all related issues.  He also practices collaborative divorce and has successfully concluded many collaborative divorce cases.  He has practiced in the southeastern Wisconsin area since 1984.  He has extensive experience in all financial and child-related family law issues, including pre and post judgment property division, debt division, child support, child custody, child placement, and spousal support issues.

Attorney Schefft is a long time member of and a former President of the Ozaukee County Bar Association, a member of the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin and a member and past board member of the Society of Family Lawyers.  He has served as Guardian ad Litem in numerous cases and has participated in the Ozaukee County Committee on Guardian ad Litems in helping the Ozaukee County Judges and Family Court Commissioner develop and refine guidelines for Guardian ad Litems in Ozaukee County. He has served as a Supplemental Court Commissioner in Ozaukee County and as a Special Acting Family Court Commissioner in Ozaukee County. Attorney Schefft has been a solo practitioner in his own firm in Cedarburg since 1990.

Attorney Schefft was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954.  He attended and graduated on the Honor list from Washington High School in Milwaukee and attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee with a double major Bachelor of Art’s Degree with Honors in English and Philosophy in May of 1979.  Attorney Schefft attended DePaul College of Law in Chicago serving as a research assistant to two law school professors and also as an editor of the DePaul Law Review, graduating in June of 1984 with a Juris Doctor with Honor degree.  Attorney Schefft took the Wisconsin Bar Exam in order to gain admission to the Wisconsin State Bar and passed both the Wisconsin and Multistate exams the first time, thereby being admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar in September of 1984.  Attorney Schefft has practiced law continuously in Wisconsin since admission, initially as a general practice attorney and later specializing in Family Law and related areas.

Attorney Schefft’s primary practice areas include Ozaukee, Washington, Waukesha and Sheboygan counties.  He is divorced and has joint custody and shared equal placement of his two daughters.
